The Ridgeway is part of a 2000 year old Iceni trail which starts in Lyme Regis on the south west coast and finishes at the Wash in East Anglia. The Ridgeway itself starts at Avebury in Wiltshire and travels 85 miles to Ivinghoe Beacon near Tring, north of London.
Mum and I did this together during the summer of 2002, starting very timidly with a 5 mile walk with Dad chauffeuring us (we were so proud of ourselves!) and finishing with two days backpacking covering 25 miles.
