Walk This Way: Riverside London

There are four walks in this recently published series. Great walks that take no more than 2 hours each, though it's worth allowing longer so you can stop and enjoy what's on offer along the way.

Riverside London: As it's name suggests, a riverside walk from Vauxhall Bridge in the west, to the Design Museum in trendy Shad Thames east of Tower Bridge. This walk takes in both Tate galleries, the Houses of Parliament, The Oxo Tower, Shakespeare's Globe, Southwark Cathedral and the Tower of London - amongst others. Great views - a classic London walk.

Millennium Bridge: From St Paul's drop south over the Millennium Bridge, cut a loop through Southwark, coming back to the Globe Theatre, then east along the riverbank, ending up at the George Inn south of Borough Market (yummy food but vegetarians should be careful where they look!)

South Bank: This starts at Westminster Bridge and heads east along the South Bank to Blackfriars Bridge, turning back on itself to Waterloo and then wends south ending up at the Imperial War Museum.

Golden Jubilee Bridges: Soho Square, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, over the Golden Jubilee Bridge for a quick tour of South Bank highlights (the London Eye, County Hall, Oxo Tower, National Theatre etc), back over the bridge, through Embankment Gardens, finishing in Covent Garden.

THE JUBILEE WALKWAY

This was a titch in comparison to the others - a 20-odd mile (with the the 2 extensions to the main route) stroll around the capital, designed for tourists to take in the main highlights of the city.

For more information and maps see the dedicated website www.jubileewalkway.com or go to The Ramblers Association.

REGENT'S CANAL

A swift 9 miler from Limehouse Basin in London's east end to the rejuvenated Paddington Basin in the West; through Hackney, Camden, Regent's Park and Little Venice. This walk connects the end of The Lea Valley Walk and the start of The Grand Union Canal.
